Privacy Policy for Linden

Linden is a personal journaling app made by an independent developer. This page explains, in plain language, what data the app collects and what it does with that data.

Short version

Linden collects nothing. Everything you write, every mood you log, every photo you attach, and the pattern you use to unlock the app stays on your iPhone. None of it is uploaded, synced to a server, shared with a third party, or seen by the developer.

Long version

What stays on your device

Linden stores the following data locally on your iPhone only, inside the app’s private sandbox:

• Diary entries (text, mood selections, photo attachments)
• Templates you create or edit
• Custom moods you create
• Your unlock pattern (stored as a one-way SHA-256 hash, never as the raw pattern)
• Your settings (font size, theme, reminders)

This data is never transmitted off your device. If you uninstall Linden, all of it is permanently deleted by iOS.

What is not collected

Linden does not collect, transmit, or share any of the following:

• Personal information (name, email, phone, location)
• Analytics or usage tracking
• Crash reports
• Advertising identifiers
• Contacts, calendar, microphone, or location data
• Anything else, of any kind

There are no third-party SDKs, no analytics services, no advertising networks, and no remote backends connected to Linden.

Permissions Linden requests

When you use certain features, iOS will ask you to grant a permission. These permissions only enable on-device functionality:

• Photos — required when you choose to attach a photo to an entry. The selected photo is copied into Linden’s local storage. Linden never reads your photo library otherwise.
• Face ID / Touch ID — required only if you choose to enable biometric unlock. iOS handles the biometric check entirely on-device; Linden only receives a yes/no result.
• Notifications — required only if you turn on daily reminders. Reminders are scheduled by iOS on-device. No reminder data leaves your phone.

Children

Linden is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone. Because Linden does not collect any information at all, no special children’s protections apply beyond the above.

iCloud backup

If you have iCloud Backup turned on in iOS Settings, Apple may include Linden’s app data in your encrypted device backup. That backup is managed by Apple and governed by Apple’s privacy policy. The developer of Linden does not have access to your backup.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at the same URL with a new effective date. Because Linden has no way to reach you, please check back here if you want to stay current.
